Today starts World Cup . It’s time to learn or look some basic soccer vocabulary. I hope the list below can get you warmed up and ready to cheer up today’s game Brazil/Croatia.

Futebol – Soccer
 Time – Team
 Seleção (brasileira) – (Brazil’s) National team Soccer
Jogador – Player

 Árbitro – Referee
Bandeirinha – Linesman/Referee’s assistant

 Bola – Ball
Gol – Goal

 Trave – Goalpost
Uniforme – Uniform

 Estádio – Stadium
Técnico – Coach

 Titulares – Starters (referring to players)
Reserva – Bench/Substitute players

 Chutar – To kick
Marcar/fazer um gol – To score a goal

 Falta – Free kick
Lateral – Throw in

 Comemorar – To celebrate
Ganhar – To win

 Perder – To lose
Campeão – Champion

 - A que horas é o jogo? (What time is the game?)
- Como está o jogo? (How is the game?)
- Quem marcou o golo? (Who scored the goal?)
-Qual foi a equipa que ganhou o jogo? (Which team won the game?)

1. Páscoa - Easter

Nós costumamos juntar-nos na Páscoa.-
We usually get together at Easter.

2. Ovo da Páscoa - Easter Egg

Há muitos Ovos da Páscoa na loja.-
There are lots of Easter Eggs at the store.


3. Coelho da Páscoa - Easter Bunny

Ele se fantasiou de Coelho da Páscoa. - He dressed up as an Easter Bunny.


4. Domingo de Páscoa - Easter Sunday

O que você vai fazer no Domingo da Páscoa? - What are you going to do on Easter Sunday?

5. Sexta Feira Santa - Good Friday

Na Sexta-feira Santa eu não vou comer carne. On Good Friday I’m not going to eat meat.
